Definity Partners Announces Definity University Scholarship Competition

CINCINNATI -- June 9, 2009 – Cincinnati-area not-for-profit organizations have a unique opportunity to eliminate wastes and become more efficient in their operations. Definity Partners today announced the launch of the Definity University Scholarship Competition, a value-added program in which the winner of the competition will gain free participation in Definity University’s Lean Certification Program – a $12,500 value.

Definity University, the training division of Definity Partners, offers the Lean Certification Program, giving in-depth insight and practical knowledge of proven lean and continuous improvement principles. Graduates are able to independently sustain improvements within their respective organizations by blending classroom learnings with a specific Lean Improvement Project as defined by senior management.

“In today’s challenging economic times, we are looking to assist Cincinnati’s charitable community by helping them address marketplace demands and develop more efficient operational systems,” said Tara Amis, Education Coordinator for Definity Partners. “As a community partner, we strive to become the resource for local not-for-profit organizations on how to best serve their constituents.”

The program, which lasts for 10-12 weeks, consists of two weeks of interactive classroom learning (first week: August 17, 2009 to August 21, 2009; second week: November 9, 2009 to November 13, 2009) coupled with eight to 10 weeks of implementation. The most recent Lean Certification Program graduates saved their companies an average of $185,000 apiece.

“During the first week of the program, attendees participate in interactive classroom learning and live facility tours. After the week is up, each participant returns to his or her organization to independently execute a Lean Improvement Project for eight to 10 weeks,” said Amis. “The program closes with a final week of classroom learning, where attendees reflect on improvement efforts and ensure that they have the knowledge and skills to independently implement future lean initiatives.”
